Board: Jones Aviator

Size: 156

Camber Option: 3D Power Camber. Traditional camber that has a small section by each contact point that has a 1 degree bevel to raise it off the snow.

Bindings: K2 Indy’s

Stance: 22.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy

Boots: K2 T1 DB Size 10

My Weight: 170lbs

Resort: Breckenridge

Conditions: Have you ever ridden on the east coast on one of those dreary gray bird spring days? The ones where the snow is firm, fast, and has a lot of death chunder/death cookies. This was one of those days.

Flex: This board is stiff and aggressive. While Jones claims that this board has a flex for the park I disagree, unless you’re a Sasquatch of a man named Paul Bunyan. The flex is the nose is mildly and I mean very mildly softer than the rest of the board. Torsionally this board is very rigid.

Stability: This is a board you want to charge with and give zero fucks. It’s damp enough to absorb the chatter in varying terrain, but not so damp you lose that lively feeling when hammering through a mogul field or rutted out side hits.

Ollies/Pop: The camber on this board is actually really easy to load up and doesn’t force you to work to get the pop you want. This is surprising due to the flex pattern. When you do boost just be prepared to go Deeper, Further, and Higher.

Butterability: Why even bother you’re going to have to work extra hard to hold a press. If you do attempt to butter look for deep soft snow and have a lot of speed.

Carving: This board has Mellow Magnetraction, to the naked eye you are not going to see it. The edge hold on ice was solid, it did wash out on aggressive carves from time to time. In the softer snow you could lay a turn and not worry that it wasn’t going to be able to make it all the way through the arc.

Rider in Mind: The lover of a stiff directional twin board that has traditional camber and mellow technologies like the 1 degree bevel at the contact point and Magnetraction.

Personal Thoughts: This board is fun, but aggressive. As previously mentioned it’s for a manly man, probably someone that eats nothing but steak and eggs for breakfast while drinking gallons of maple syrup. You need to be on top of your game when riding this board. Would I take it in the park, maybe if it was the last lap of the day, but this board is more suited for hard charging and making the mountain your park.

Comparable Boards: K2 Turbo Dream, Burton Custom X, Smokin KT-22
