Board: Public Dispute
Size: 153
Camber Option: Alert Camber. Rocker in the tips and camber throughout the middle or as you may know it camrocker.
Bindings: Rome Black Label
Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 200lbs
Resort: Copper Mountain
Conditions: Overcast skies with pockets of blue, average temps, moderate winds, ice, chop, chunder, and hero snow on the groomers.
Flex: This is your standard run of the mill all mountain freestyle flex. Softer tips that stiffen up right where the rocker zone meets the camber and a fair amount of torsional flex but nothing mind blowing.
Stability: This board is actually fairly stable underfoot. You get the normal chatter in the tips and it slightly resonates back underfoot but it’s minimized as it does this. In rutted out terrain the board bends and flexes with every undulation but does not get bucked around.
Ollies: The camber profile is easy to load up allowing for the camber section to put power into the rocker in the tail and give it a spring like effect. This helps it boost and this board can boost. It’s mellow enough to be laid back with how you pop off things but you can be more assertive if need be and launch.
Pop On Jumps: I won’t lie I was on a 153 not exactly the most confidence inducing thing to be on if you want to send a jump at my size but for the small to medium stuff I hit it popped off the lip and landed great. You can be lazy with this board and still engage the pop on this board to boost if need be.
Butterability: Having rocker in the tips helps this board butter so much. It creates a giant sweet spot that locks in and holds a press. You can just feel this board lock in and know you’re going to do whatever variation you want and then it’s going to spring out.
Jibbing: This is somewhat what this board was designed for and it shows. The sweet spot is huge and just locks in to presses and has a nice bend in the board that gives you snap out of nose or tail presses. When you go sideways it doesn’t clap out but there’s a lot of give that hugs the feature.
Carving: There’s a fluid edge to edge transmission that feels familiar and consistent. It steers from outside the front foot but drives from inside it through the tail. You can lay this board over when you need to even if it’s not what it’s best suited for. Short quick set up turns and medium mellow carves are really its strong suit.
Rider in Mind: All mountain freestyle rider that wants a consistent ride.
Personal Thoughts: I figured this board wasn’t going to be anything that stood out to me, man was I wrong. This board did a great job of riding everything I threw at it with ease. It has a level of familiarity that just feels like a board you can get on and not worry about as it will do everything you want it to do.
