Board: Yes. 420
Size: 152
Camber Option: Pow Rocker. Flat between the feet and just past the inserts with an abrupt rocker in the nose and a more mellow one in the tail.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 22.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 T1 DB Size 10
My Weight: 170lbs
Resort: Breckenridge
Conditions: 5 to 8 inches of the most chundery spring powder. It was snowing with a mix of heavy to light snow. The skies were grey, the groomers were slightly frozen, and the temps were mild.
Flex: This board is a middle of the road flex except in the tips. With the abundance of rocker there it was a tad bit softer.
Stability: The 152 is wide enough for someone with a size 12 or up foot. This added girth gave the board a boat like feel which aided in the stability of it. Short and wide much like that bar troll you pulled home last night, this board survived all the varying terrain it could hit whether chunder moguls, tight tree bumps, or frozen death cookies.
Ollies/Pop: Surprisingly for such a small board it had a lot of pop. You could spring off the tail with the Pow Rocker which made initiating the snap easily seamless. Never once did I have to hesitate to boost off a side hit into some snow.
Butterability: You’re going to want 6 plus inches or more to get a good butter, otherwise you’re just swiveling around on the snow looking like a floundering idiot.
Carving: The width does pose a slight challenge on firm snow, but if you know how to carve, as well as leverage your body you can do it. I wouldn’t expect to be ripping deep turns, but then again this board isn’t designed for that.
Rider in Mind: The pow junkie that wants to surf the white wave all over the mountain and avoid lift lines as well as groomers.
Personal Thoughts: Short and wide pow boards are great, they make floating on the snow easier. What they’re not good for is when you get stuck on a groomer and have to carve everywhere. This board is perfectly at home in 6 inches or more and excels in a foot or higher. Is this board for everyone? No it’s for the powder hound that is riding the deep all the time.
