Board: Slash Spectrum

Size: 154

Camber Option: Flat. A lack of camber all the way to the up-kick in the tips.

Bindings: K2 Indy

Stance: 22.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy

Boots: K2 T1 DB Size 10

My Weight: 170lbs

Resort: Breckenridge

Conditions: Early morning firm groomers with blue skies and slightly warmer spring temps. The snow was fast, firm, and at times scary.

Flex: Slash I’m convinced miss-markets their flex ratings. This board is fucking stiff, yet they claim it’s a middle of the road. We’re talking cambered 1990’s man board here. There’s a minimal amount of flex in the tips but it’s not playful it’s still stiff, then underfoot and through the middle it’s still stiff, and the torsional flex is next to non existent.

Stability: I’m pretty sure I ran over a herd of moose with this and didn’t feel anything. This board is meant to charge and run over everything in its path. With the lack of flex though be prepared to get bucked.

Ollies: If you really load yourself up to boost you can send it. This board makes you work to get the snap, but when you do you get a lot out of it.

Pop On Jumps: Go fast, send it off the lip, and land. That’s about the only way I can describe hitting a jump on this thing. It was not fun.

Butterability: I suppose if you’re a gargantuan of a man you could butter this board. I tried hard, I put in a lot of effort, and in the end I got minimal results. This board just didn’t want to butter.

Jibbing: 50-50’s were pretty much the extent of jib tricks I could pull off with this board. The flex just wasn’t conducive to getting pressy. I will reiterate that this board is meant to go straight and occasionally turn.

Carving: Surprisingly this board could carve really well. You can set an edge and be locked in to a turn with ease. Now here’s the downside you have to weight and unweight this thing constantly and work it twice as hard as other boards to get the same results.

Rider in Mind: Someone about 100lbs over the recommended weight limit. This board is built for a beast.

Personal Thoughts: I’m too light for this board. Even in the 154 I need at least 50 more pounds on me to make it an all mountain freestyle board. It’s just too stiff and Slash needs to rectify this problem. I couldn’t do shit on this thing and it was annoying to have to ride it all over trying to get the same results as I would from other boards.

Comparable Boards: Capita DOA, Rossignol Angus, Ride Berzerker
