Board: Salomon Sick Stick
Size: 160
Camber Option: Cross Profile. A mix of camber underfoot with rocker in the tips.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 22.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 T1 DB Size 10
My Weight: 170lbs
Resort: Breckenridge
Conditions: Breckenridge had received about a half of foot of snow over night. It was light and fluffy, much like how Colorado powder always is. Temps were a bit cold and there was minimal wind.
Flex: The bamboo components of this board make it really flexible. It’s possibly one of the most flexible powder sticks on the market. It feels more like a park board than a powder board. The tips have a lot of play in them and then it stiffens up under foot just a bit.
Stability: For being as flexible as it is, it is still surprisingly stable. If you want to charge, then charge, and rarely you might get bucked around.
Ollies/Pop: This has the right blend of snap to give you boost off a natural hit or a powder popper. Just load up the tail and pop up into the air.
Butterability: The pointy tips do sometimes catch in firm or heavy snow which can throw you if you’re trying to do a fast powder butter.
Carving: The sidecut actually grips well on the firmer snow and you can rail a turn with ease, although this board is more at home in powder than on a groomer.
Rider in Mind: The pure powder pursuer that wants to feel all the transitions in the snow and will play around in the trees, wide open bowls, and sides of main runs.
Personal Thoughts: This board never disappoints. It’s consistently awesome year after year. You know it’s going to be playful yet powerful. If you want to ride trees full of deep snow, it will do it. Out in the great wide open and want to throw up a huge rooster tail, fine you got it.
