Board: Salomon Sight
Size: 156
Camber Option: Cross Profile. A camber dominate camrocker.
Bindings: K2 Lein AT
Stance: 21.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 177lbs
Resort: Arapahoe Basin
Conditions: Sunny bluebird skies, warmer temps, snow that was a little bit heavier.
Flex: This board is below a middle of the road flex but above a soft entry or jib deck. There’s a bit more play in the tips and then through the camber zone it’s a bit stiffer.
Stability: While not the most stable board out there it got the job done. I did notice a bit of vibrations in the tip at speeds when plowing through chunder and variable terrain.
Ollies: Being that the board is camber dominate it you could load it up and boost when you wanted to. I found that side hits and jumps were a blast and came with ease while hitting it.
Pop On Jumps: It’s smooth and stable off a lip and pops how you would expect it. I would keep it to the small or medium lines though and avoid anything over 30 feet.
Butterability: The rocker zone really lets you get over the tip or tail of the board, but it wasn’t one of those easy to butter boards. You had to work for it to get the deck into the sweet spot to do what you wanted.
Jibbing: It locks into presses with a little bit of work and slides just fine. Doing a board slide or two you just have to be aware that the board is camber dominate, but once you do it’s fine. I wouldn’t say it’s a super jib board by any means, but it gets the job done.
Carving: The sidecut is great for initiating quick turns, when doing a longer more drawn out hard carve I found the board would sometimes wash out. If you really pushed the tail it was just one of those boards that couldn’t handle the effect. So if you’re not charging hard it’s not bad.
Rider in Mind: Someone that’s still learning but is beyond the beginner phase of being a rider.
Personal Thoughts: Is this a board I would choose for myself? Not by any means, but did it get the job done? Definitely. It’s a great board for progressing on and won’t hold the rider back. I put it through its paces and found that it had enough snap and rebound to want more abuse from myself.
Comparable Boards: Flow Merc, Arbor Draft, Rossignol Circuit
