Board: Burton Custom X

Size: 158

Camber Option: Traditional Camber. Everyone should know what this is at this point.

Bindings: K2 Indy

Stance: 21.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy

Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10

My Weight: 177lbs

Resort: Arapahoe Basin

Conditions: Perfect hero snow with fresh soft corduroy and a bit of chunder on the sides. Blue skies, a bit of wind, and warm temps.

Flex: This is a stiffer board with a flex that’s somewhere past middle of the road but not near total death plank. There’s a bit of torsional give which helps with driving the board edge to edge.

Stability: This board is designed to be stable at speeds and to bust through any kind of terrain in front of it. I never felt a time where it wasn’t absorbing chatter or pushing itself through the snow.

Ollies/Pop: It’s got traditional camber so once you load it up this board will snap. While not the poppiest deck out there don’t ever think of this board as a slouch when hitting a roller, side hit, or even a jump.

Butterability: Put all your weight into the nose or tail and you’ll butter just fine. Don’t do that, well you just might hook an edge and die.

Carving: The sidecut is designed to rip hard aggressive turns. When setting the edge the initiation is very easy and takes just a little effort to get it to transition from toe to heel. You can really drive this board hard and know that it won’t falter.

Rider in Mind: Someone that likes to carve and push their board to the limit when they push their riding.

Personal Thoughts: It’s been a while since I rode the Custom X, but this thing did what I needed it to do. It’s aggressive, it’s stiff, and it’s probably not for everyone. But what it is, is a great ride that lets you handle your shit and ride how you want!

Comparable Boards: Ride Timeless, Jones Project X, Rossignol The One
