Conditions: Everything Colorado can offer from early season white ribbon of death to late season spring chunder and everything in between.
Flex: Just below middle of the road but right above full blown noodle.
Stability: All the urethane tech really helps in the stability department. It soaks up chatter and rides so smooth. It is still a soft rockered deck though, so don’t expect it to be able to point it through a chunder field and not feel anything, but for a board this soft this deck was pretty awesome.
Ollies: It’s got carbon running down the center and a solidly built core. Really nice snap in softer snow and in the park. It never under-snapped and never left me wanting or needing more.
Pop On Jumps: Quicky skate snaps is where it’s at. Don’t load too much or you run the risk of getting put in the back seat, which is pretty hard to pull out of once you get down to the landing. Snap it just right and you get all the boost you need for up to 50ftrs and as long as you’re landing practically centered. All that new urethane soaks up landings really well.
Butterability: Soft? carbon? rocker?… Check! Press it, twist it, snap it, it’s a good time all around.
Jibbing: I generally don’t like jibbing rocker decks as I never really feel too locked in. This was different. The press is definitely more of that bring the opposite knee in and push hard style. With that kind of press it does lock really well and was honestly pretty confidence inspiring. It still doesn’t lock into a boardslide as well as camber, but better than any other RC deck I’ve been on recently. Rides through a kink super smooth and the urethane pads take all the ping out of landing on a rail without sacrificing board feel.
Carving: I still think Flow has some of the best sidecuts on the market. Boards this soft just shouldn’t be able to carve this well or hold an edge this good. They employ wizards. I’m convinced.
Rider in Mind: All around park kid focused more on jibs than jumps who also likes rocker.
Personal Thoughts: I had felt like last years Verve was one of the best on the market, especially for the money. Adding urethane sidewalls, base dampening, and toe/heel topsheet dampening only sweetened the whole ride up. All the same board feel and ride quality but now it rides smoother; Hell yeah!
